Follow these step by step instructions on logging a death with BCMS

First, you need to go to your farm settings and tick the box 'Send registrations and movements to BCMS'. You will receive T&C's that need to be accepted, and then click 'Save changes'.

How to log the Death activity

  1. From the mobile app, click on the animal you want to report a death for. Then click on the plus icon at the bottom of the page.

2. Select 'Log Activity'.

3. Click on 'Birth & Death'.

4. Select 'Log Death'

5. You can now select an address from your address book which will prepopulate the address, or enter the address manually.

6. By adding the address into your address book, it will speed up future activities.

7. Confirm the death by clicking 'OK'.

How to approve and send the death to BCMS or SCOTEID

Next, you will see the animal in your web app in the Regulatory Dashboard. It will list all animals that have had movements/births/deaths and will inform if any information needs to be pushed to BCMS for new animals/movements.

  1. Click on the 'Deaths' in the BCMS summary type and check the information is correct.

  2. Click on the tick box next to the animal and select 'Approve & Send' if you are happy with the information.

The status will then change to 'pending'. It will show as pending for a few minutes and if it doesn't come back as an error, the movement will have been sent.

CTS will update the following morning (24 hours later) with your animal death. If you notice any incorrect information after the push has been sent, please get in contact with BCMS directly.
