You might have heard that the Cattle Tracing System (CTS) which currently records all cattle births, deaths and movements in the UK is in the process of being replaced.

From the 4th October 2021, all cattle births, deaths and movements in Scotland will require to be reported to ScotEID, rather than the CTS system operated by the British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS).

But - rest assured! We’ve been working with ScotEID on their replacement system since summer 2019 and Breedr will be fully integrated with ScotMoves which means you don't need to switch systems and you can continue to use our software to manage your movements (and improve performance!)

We'll update this guide as and when new information is released!

What do I need to do next?

  • If you're already using Breedr to manage your movements and registered with ScotEID for sheep or inter-business movements, simply re-enter your ScotEID log-in details after the 4th of Ocotber

  • If you are already using Breedr to manage your movements but not registered with ScotEID you will receive a letter from them in September. Create your account and then enter your login details from the 4th of October to connect Breedr to ScotEID.

  • If you're not using Breedr to manage your movements yet, you can minimise disruption to your business by getting set up with electronic movements now, ahead of the compulsory switch over and then following the steps above after the 4th of October.

Benefits of using Breedr for cattle movements:

  1. Log movements in real time using your phone, and approve later in the web app

  2. Farm management data, all in one place. Keep organised with one app in for everything from movements, weighing, performance data and trading.

  3. FREE: all the benefits with none of the cost. Other integrated cattle management systems RRP at £200+
