In order to ensure efficient and accurate record keeping that meets the conventions of your specific ranch, Breedr has a number of different IDs that can be used for tracking your cattle. On the Breedr app, an animal's primary ID and secondary ID are always displayed, whereas other active IDs are shown only on an animal's detail page.

To access and update your account's Animal IDs settings on the web portal and mobile app, see the screenshots below:

A breakdown of the different types of ID and proposed use cases for each

Breedr ID - a 21-character unique identifier assigned to each animal entered in Breedr for comprehensive tracking.

EID (Electronic ID) - a physical, scannable device placed in the animal's ear, enabling efficient scanning for quick identification during various management activities performed individually in close proximity.

VID (Visual ID) - comprised of numerical and/or alphabetical characters, allowing for easy visual recognition and manual identification.

Name - offers personalized identification by allowing you to assign names or nicknames to animals for easier recognition within the app.

Trich ID - specifically used for animals tested for Trichomoniasis, allowing assignment and tracking of unique IDs associated with Trich testing for accurate health management.

TSU Barcode -utilized when collecting tissue samples from animals, ensuring seamless sample tracking and association with individual animals within records.

Registered ID - records the ID of pedigree animals, maintaining a link to pedigree information and lineage within the system.

Tattoo ID - manages branding or tattoo information for animals.

HerdDogg ID - integrated with HerdDogg tags, enabling compatibility and streamlined tracking for animals tagged with HerdDogg devices.

UHF ID (Ultra-High Frequency) - this radio-frequency based ID is ideal for large-scale operations that need to manage multiple animals at one time, or operations that have animals spread out over a large area. Scanning this type of device doesn't require direct contact or line of sight, offering quick and non-invasive identification for many animals at once.

Brucellosis ID - specifically used for animals tested for Brucellosis, facilitating ID management for accurate health monitoring and compliance purposes.
