Whether you're using another software, spreadsheets, or paper records, there are several ways you can upload your animals into Breedr.

If you are adding an animal for the first time, and you are using EIDs for your animals, the quickest way is to scan EIDs in Chute Mode. If you do not have compatible weigh equipment or stick reader, animals can also be added manually in Chute Mode.

The Breedr web portal provides bulk uploads and the ability to download your animals, add activities, and view reports. Log in using the same username and password as the mobile app.

Use this link Animal Upload Template to populate the file with your animal data and save it as a CSV file before you upload. The file will take the animal data listed below:

Note: Your data must be in CSV format. For help converting files, see this guide.

Required fields are Animal ID and Animal breed.

How to Upload Animals

Step-by-step

1. Download the Excel template document below, fill it in, and save it as a CSV file.

Create animal via CSV upload. If you already have a spreadsheet of your data, make sure to convert it to a CSV.

2. Go to 'Import data' on the web app and press the 'Custom import' icon.

3. Select 'Import cattle' and press 'Next.'

4. Select your file from your computer and then press 'Next.'

5. Use the drop-down menu to align the column headings in your file with those in the Breedr system. You can press 'Match columns' which will fill in recognized headings for you, or you can set the column headings manually.

In this example, you can see that Animal ID, Animal Breed, Electronic ID, Visual ID, Date of birth, and date on farm have been matched.

6. Once all columns are matched, press 'Finish upload.' When the screen turns green, the upload has been successful.

To add additional information in an upload, match ID numbers and then the column heading in your file. To add performance or activity information, see this guide.

Note: If you do not specify the sex of your animals, they will all be uploaded as heifers.
